Things look bleak on the streets of Smuggler’s Bay as more riders on Agrora Raptors appear. But upon confirming Timbers McGrady‘s death, they leave as though their mission was completed. Timbers dies, but not before revealing the map was tattooed on his head. The players lop it off. They also recover a medallion left by one of the riders. It’s later determined to bare the symbol of “Bal-Rathi’s Compass”. From this they learn of the legend of Bal-Rathi the Explorer, but are uncertain if it has any connection to their search for Bramwell’s Buried Treasure.
Having thoroughly burned their bridges with the crime-lord mayor Miles Mainsail, the Shore Thing flees Smuggler’s Bay. A White-Elf Utuijan guide is needed to traverse the jungles of Shaundor, and Mainsail had captured one waiting his arrival in the settlement of Slave Beach. After a day and a half of nonstop sailing, the Shore Thing arrives at the dismal settlement.
They seek the guide, but discover that Dreadnought Drake of the Schooner or Later already collected him. Meeting with Drake at a tavern called the Fish & Chicks, he offers to combine their resources – he with the guide and they with the map – and find Bramwell’s treasure together. The adventurers instead decide to attack Drake’s men. At the same time, guards enter the establishment led by a giant Morgrin. They work for Mainsail, who doesn’t appreciate betrayal.
