Convallis Valley is an isolated region nestled between the Tueri Mountain Range in the north and the Endless Ocean to the south. Here, the Convalli people live a quiet and peaceful life, content to ignore and be ignored by the rest of the Insula Sea.
Most know little of the outside world, and exploration is of little interest to them. Their desires lie inwards, tending to their own lands and not troubling with whatever lies beyond their borders.
That’s not to say they do not accept visitors. Once a year, a merchant caravan travels the only known path through the mountains to their capital. During this time, called the Annual Merchant Festival, the Convalli trade and exchange information.
There is an unofficial tradition amongst the young Convalli who come of age: to leave with the merchant caravan and explore the lands beyond. Nearly all return within a week, their yearning for exploration satisfied and senses restored to remain within the Valley. The youth then choose a settlement to take root in and call home for the rest of their lives.
Most of the population live on farms scattered across the countryside, but never within sight of the ocean; their superstition of the water and what lies within keeping them clear of the coastline. There are six urban centers, however: each with their own forte.
The west-most town of Vinum produces wine from vineyards that have been tended by the same families for centuries. Their wine here is the chief export of Convallis Valley and sought after throughout Ortum.
Praeda lies nestled in the foothills of the Tueri Mountains, mining stones from the earth and smithing all manner of tools or equipment used throughout the region.
Piscandi is a village along Lacus Lake, providing fish to an otherwise nearly vegetarian Convalli diet. But for the residents of Piscandi, the ability to swim would be all but unknown in the Valley.
Lignum, deep within the East Silva Forest, is the chief provider of lumber and expert craftsmen of all things made of wood; from buildings and furniture to fletching and musical instruments.
Seges is the breadbasket of the Valley, situated in the middle of the region’s best farmland. From their crops, some farmers have also taken to the skill of brewing beer; not as sought after as their wine, but locally welcomed and consumed.
Legumina, besides being the capital and central settlement for both trade and information, is also renowned for growing the land’s most bountiful vegetable and flower gardens.
